文,博得了玩丧志的大三学长们的耳朵,打扑克的或是调侃的,禁不住也要停下来诧异又惊叹地观一番。闹哄哄的教室里有了片刻注目的安静。

双胞胎妹瞠目结,压忘记了要喝倒彩,或者说连喝倒彩也不知该怎么个喝法。蔚芝茹则虚起了,这段演讲显然不是自夏君,她似曾耳闻,却一时记不起,思忖间,黑发的女生继续着看似与主题无关的讲演:

“William Bradford, speaking in 1630 of the founding of the Ply摸uth Bay Colony, said that all great and honorable actions are accompanied with great difficulties, and 波th must be enterprised and overcome with answerable courage。(1630年,威廉?布拉德福特,在谈及普利茅斯湾民地的成立时,曾说过,一切伟大而光荣的行动都伴随着艰的困难,这两者都必须以足可匹的勇气才能完成和克服。)”

她说

“We choose to go to the 摸on。”

蔚芝茹猛然眨了眨,想起来了,这篇著名演说的真正主人。看似与集英学生竞选毫无系的演讲,因为这一句“我们决心登月”而掷地有声。在四周人戛然无语,一时,她已经锐地觉察了“登月”字面后的意义。宏图伟业,野心。那是明又漂亮的宣战。嘴角不由挂上一抹冷笑,真有你的,夏学妹…

“We choose to go to the 摸on in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard, because that goal will serve to organize and measure the best of our energies and skills, because that challenge is one that we are willing to accept, one we are unwilling to postpone, and one which we intend to win, and the others, too。(我们决心登月,事不宜迟,还有更多的挑战我们决心要完成,不是因为它们很容易,恰是因为它们很艰难,因为这一目标能凝聚我们的能量与技巧并检验它们所能达到的极限,因为这一挑战是我们甘愿接受的,是我们不愿推迟的,是我们决心赢得的,我们对待所有的挑战,向来如此。)”

平淡不经,却也专注切,仿佛她并不在意台下的听众,她只是在乎这一篇优而铿锵的演讲。那有如忘我的投让人唏嘘。

“Manyyears ago the great British explorer George Mallory, who was to die on Mount Everest, was asked why did he want to climb it。 He said, ‘Because it is there。’(许多年以前,伟大的大不列颠探险家,那位最后死在珠穆朗玛峰的乔治?洛里,当被问到为何要攀登这座峰时,他回答:因为它在那里。)
